At the India Mobile Congress (IMC) event, Reliance Jio launched a new mobile phone called JioPhone Prima 4G in the Indian market. Although it looks like an ordinary mobile phone, it supports many popular applications such as YouTube and WhatsApp.
Key features of JioPhone Prima 4G include 4G connectivity, 1800mAh battery and 23 language support. It has a premium round design with the Jio logo covered in concentric circles on the back and is just 1.55cm thick.
Under the hood of the JioPhone Prima 4G is an ARM Cortex A53 processor with the option to expand the memory by 128GB. It supports FM radio and has a 3.5mm audio jack. Running on KaiOS, the device offers a single SIM card slot and Bluetooth 5.0. For those unfamiliar with KaiOS, it is a mobile operating system designed for smartphones with Smart features. Firefox OS is based on the open source project and supports more than 1,200 applications, including WhatsApp, Facebook, YouTube and Google Maps.
JioPhone Prima 4G comes with a host of pre-installed apps including YouTube, JioTV, Jio Cinema, JioSaavn, JioNews and more.
Prices and availability
JioPhone Prima 4G is priced at Rs 2,599 and is available in Blue and Yellow variants on JioMart. Launch offers include cashback deals, bank offers and coupons.
