It was believed that this year would be the year that Apple switched entirely to USB-C, including accessories. But this did not happen.

What is known

Magic Keyboard, Magic Mouse, and Magic Trackpad will continue to ship with Lightning for at least this generation. We can assume that the company has a lot of electronic devices left in storage, so the company decided to take advantage of the delay provided by the new EU law requiring all electronic devices to be equipped with Type-C.

The company didn’t say anything in the presentation about continuing to ship Lightning peripherals, but its website notes that a USB-C adapter cable is included.

It is noteworthy that Apple has already transferred not only smartphones, tablets, watches and AirPods Pro headphones to the new port, but also the Siri remote control for Apple TV and the new Apple Pencil stylus. However, AirPods, AirPods Max and iPhone SE, as well as these three iMac accessories, are still produced with the old port.

We should probably wait for next year’s update. Apple may introduce new AirPods and AirPods Max in 2024, which will most likely already receive USB-C.
