According to Omdia’s latest report, the decline in sales in the global mobile phone market is starting to slow down. Samsung remains the leader, albeit down a few points from the previous year’s quarter, but there’s an absolute hero that may not be familiar to you: Transsion. But let’s start with the usual data.

Samsung is the leader of the global market. Samsung currently has a 19% market share at the end of the third quarter of 2023. In the last 2nd quarter this figure was 20% and compared to 21% in the 3rd quarter of 2022. This represents an overall decline of 8.0%. three quarters of the previous year. Despite the decline, it continues to lead.

Apple follows closely behind with 18% market share, just 1% less. Apple isn’t down on shipping. The company, which grew by 2.3% compared to the previous year, is breaking a quarterly revenue record thanks to the iPhone 15, which was widely accepted after its launch.

Xiaomi and OPPO group are two ways to understand China. Xiaomi maintains sustainable growth, slightly above Apple. We are talking about a market share of 2.5 percent and a market share of 14 percent on an annual basis. The manufacturer has managed to remain stable on shipments and weather the storm. It’s one of the few OEMs that isn’t declining, and it’s pretty divided in China.

The OPPO group, which includes OnePlus among the data, has a market share of 9 percent after a significant decline of 8.6 percent. The European market also poses some obstacles for OPPO, which has stopped its activities in countries such as France due to patent problems with Nokia. Also important are Huawei, which lost 22.1% annually, and Realme, which lost 10.5%.

Transition like a rocket. The transition probably doesn’t sound familiar to you. It is a phone manufacturer headquartered in Shenzen, focusing mainly on the Chinese market and emerging markets such as Africa. It includes the brands Tesne, Itel and Infinis. Transsion’s growth was the highest in the chart.

We are talking about 48.6% annual growth and 17.7 million unit shipments. An insane number that puts it in the same 9% of the OPPO group, with a difference of just 300,000 units.

The market is starting to see the light. While there was a 0.7% decrease in the global market compared to last year, there was an increase of 13.4% compared to the previous quarter. According to these data, the slowdown in the decline in sales is becoming evident and we are taking cautious steps towards recovery.
