The 2023 Digital Ecology Conference was recently held in Guangzhou, China, with the theme “Digital Technologies and Upgrades.” At this event, China Telecom cooperated with Huawei and introduced the Huawei Mate 60 Pro Quantum Secure Call personal terminal.
This new system offers a three-level quantum security solution that makes it nearly impossible to eavesdrop on a secure call. Huawei Mate 4OE was introduced with Quantum SIM card support. Now China Telecom and Huawei have taken this one step further by installing a new system on the Mate 60 Pro.
Huawei Mate 60 Pro’s Quantum Secure Call Personalized Terminal uses a comprehensive “triple protection” approach, incorporating a domestically produced chip, state secret algorithms and a quantum security SIM card to enhance security. In addition to the ability to make quantum encrypted calls directly from the built-in keypad on the Mate 60 Pro, the device also offers secure features such as encrypted file transfers, secure instant messaging, and coordinated office events via the Quantum MeSign app.
For those unfamiliar with the technical details, quantum encryption is a method of data encryption that uses quantum mechanics to secure communications. It is based on the principles of quantum physics, which state that the act of observing a quantum system changes its state. This means that any attempt to intercept or eavesdrop on a quantum encrypted call will be instantly detected because the act of observing the call will change the state of the call.
Your phone handles the encryption and decryption of VoLTE voice data there. Additionally, each time you make a quantum-secured call, a new key is generated for that session, ensuring robust and private communication security. When you initiate a quantum secure call, a randomly selected card key verifies that it is really you. The quantum network then creates a real-time key to lock the session data when it knows it’s you.
To use the China Telecom Tianyi Quantum Secure Call feature, users need to replace their regular SIM card with a Quantum Secure SIM card and activate the Quantum Secure Call service.
