Samsung is reportedly working on a new rugged smartphone, tentatively called Galaxy Xcover 7, that will follow in the footsteps of the Xcover 6 Pro launched last year. AndroidTitles has published a report containing official images of the upcoming Xcover 7 and providing an early look at its design.

Leaked images show that the Samsung Galaxy Xcover 7 will feature a single rear camera with a waterdrop notch and dual LED flash, all with a rugged design. The report states that the back cover of the device is removable and suggests that it may be equipped with a user-replaceable battery.

The device features a physical Xcover button that can be configured to launch an app, access Push to Talk, and more. The report states that the durable phone will meet the MIL-STD-810H standard and be IP68 rated and dust and water resistant.

Unfortunately, the report does not include any information about the technical specifications of Galaxy Xcover 7. Last year’s Xcover 6 Pro was equipped with the Snapdragon 778G chipset. Being a non-professional device, the Xcover 7 may be equipped with a less powerful chipset. There is currently no information on whether Samsung plans to launch a Pro version of the device.

According to a recent report, the Xcover 7 has the model number SM-G556B, which is similar to the SM-A556B model number associated with the upcoming Galaxy A55. Therefore, the Xcover 7 is likely to be a reliable version of the A55, which is expected to feature the upcoming Exynos 1480 chipset. Other details of the A55 are being kept under wraps.
