After a series of rumors, Xiaomi has finally confirmed its “long-term strategic partnership” with Leica and jointly developing a flagship smartphone before its launch in July 2022.
Other companies are also actively using the experience of well-known camera manufacturers. At the end of 2020, Vivo joined forces with Zeiss, following in the footsteps of Sony and Nokia. Oppo and OnePlus have recently launched phones co-developed with Hasselblad, including the Find X5 series and OnePlus 10 Pro.
Xiaomi hasn’t said anything more about this future product, but sources say it will be based on a single-chip Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 system. As for the name, it will most likely be the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. “This collaboration will give a strong impetus to Xiaomi’s strategy in image processing,” CEO Lei Jun said in a press release.
