Recent reports have revealed that Samsung is working on a rugged phone called Galaxy Xcover 7. Images of the device had already been leaked and were also detected on Geekbench. While the Xcover series is available in other markets like Europe, the South Korean brand has not launched it in India. There is a possibility that the Xcover 7 will be Samsung’s first rugged phone for the Indian market.

As seen from X’s post above, a Samsung device with model number SM-G556B has been approved by BIS India. According to previous reports, this device will likely be called Galaxy Xcover 7 when it launches.

The Geekbench listing of the phone has revealed that the Galaxy Xcover 7 will be powered by Dimensity 6100 Plus chipset, 8GB RAM and Android 14. Leaked images of the device revealed that its rugged design will feature a teardrop notch display on the front. Single rear camera with dual LED flash and a physical Xcover button on the side that allows users to launch the desired app or push-to-talk feature or use any other feature.

The Galaxy Xcover 7 reportedly has a user-replaceable back panel, just like its predecessor. It will also be a dust- and water-resistant smartphone that complies with the MIL-STD-810H standard and IP68 class.

There is a possibility that the Galaxy Xcover 7 will bear some similarities with the upcoming Galaxy A55 with model number SM-A556B. Reports have revealed that the A55 will feature the upcoming Exynos 1480 chipset.
