Imagine you have 3456 mobile phones. This is the number of phones owned by Andrii Bilbi Argentis, who lives in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, he has the largest mobile phone collection. The total number of phones Andrew owns is actually higher because the total does not include several thousand copies, which does not account for the record number of 3,456 phones.
With so many people, you’d expect to hear that Andrew started collecting cell phones years before Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone in 2007, or even before the Motorola Razr V3 went mainstream in 2004. Surprisingly, Bilbie Argentis didn’t start her collection until 2018, meaning she’s amassed a record number of phones over the past six years.
The photo accompanying Guinness’ story shows the room where Andrii collected his phones. Two walls facing each other are completely covered with mobile phones, and as we get closer to the photo we can see several Motorola Razr V3 devices in different colors. On the wall on the left of the photo, we can see a few of the latest Pixel phones on the second shelf, while on the ninth shelf of the same wall we can see a few older iPhone models (around iPhone 6). Can you spot specific phones in the photo?
Andrew Bilby Argentis has 3,456 phones and this is the current Guinness World Record. We certainly don’t expect Andrew to have a wireless plan for every phone, and any phone enthusiast will want to spend at least an hour looking through his collection. We sent a request to Guinness to see if it was possible to get a list of all the phones on the Bilby Argentis World Record list. If we hear back from World Records, we will post it as an update to this story.
So how many phones are there collecting dust in a drawer? Personally, I still have my LG VX9800, a great-looking flip phone from 2005. It had a physical QWERTY keyboard and was later upgraded to become the LG VX9900; this model was better known as LG enV. Source
