Google is rolling out a first-of-its-kind update Google Pixel 8 Pro. Updates the AI Core program that supports artificial intelligence features on the device. This AI Core app runs silently in the background and handles some AI-driven functions directly on the device rather than relying on cloud servers and internet connections.

According to a previously revealed Google Play Store listing, “AI Core supports Android features and delivers the latest AI models to apps.” However, the Play Store entry has been removed. Google is probably planning a separate announcement for this addition.

Although the average user cannot directly interact with the AI Core, it plays an important role in improving the overall experience with the Pixel 8 Pro. The latest update, which changes the app from version 0.release.539035001 to version 0.release.582652206, is designed specifically for Pixel 8 Pro (codenamed “husky”). Pixel phones and tablets have included a placeholder for AI Core since the first Android 14 update.

If you’re using a Pixel 8 Pro, the update should have been automatically downloaded to your phone and should be doing its job. This update is currently only available for Pixel 8 Pro. However, it is expected to reach Pixel 8 soon, although not to older Pixel devices with Tensor chips.

Some popular applications of the latest base models may include implementing features such as “Zoom Enhancement” or speeding up the Magic Eraser. Notably, Samsung has confirmed that such capabilities have also been added to its upcoming flagship Galaxy S24 series, calling it an “artificial intelligence phone”.
