Garmin’s newest portable GPS is designed for long-distance hiking. Garmin eTrex Solar portable GPS can run for 75 days on battery. The portable GPS also supports solar charging, providing technically infinite operating time. The eTrex Solar portable GPS has a built-in solar panel.

Garmin eTrex Solar is IPX7 waterproof and offers significant improvements over its predecessor, the Edge Solar series. The new solar-powered GPS does not have the color display used in the previous model. Instead, it uses a black and white screen. The rugged eTrex Solar can provide location information to hikers on even the toughest mountain trails.

Garmin eTrex Solar is equipped with a 2.2-inch monochromatic display and built-in solar panel. It can be charged when daylight is brighter than 75,000 lux (about 4 hours per day). The device can operate on battery power for up to 8 days when in GPS rapid update mode. However, in slow GPS update mode, the battery lasts 75 days.

Garmin eTrex Solar uses multi-band GPS signals for maximum coverage and accuracy. Its digital compass provides easy navigation using physical maps or terrain as a guide. When connected to a smartphone, eTrex can receive weather updates and be used for trip planning and mapping. The device also has geocoaching feature which allows the user to automatically receive cache updates from Geocoaching Live. When you connect to Garmin Explore, each finding will be uploaded to your Geocoaching user profile.

Garmin eTrex Solar is available on retail platforms worldwide, including Amazon. It is available worldwide for $249.99.
