Nothing’s newest smartphone, Nothing Phone (2), is currently going through the second open beta of Nothing OS 2.5 based on Android 14. Now the brand has turned its attention to the previous model.

The brand has launched the Nothing OS 2.5 closed beta program for Nothing Phone (1). The sad news is that participants have already been selected and the program is currently full. If you are one of the users selected to participate in the program, you will receive the 1.22 GB update soon. As for the features coming with the update, you can check out the changelog below.

Settings:

• The common home screen and lock screen settings page has been rearranged.
• Improved wallpaper editing for full view of options.
• Added a new “Atmosphere” wallpaper effect for dynamic colorful animated background.
• Added a new “Glass” wallpaper effect with a unique and special look.
• Solid color wallpapers are available for a cleaner home screen look.
• A monochromatic color theme has been added to the main color section.

Glyph interface:

• Integrated progress glyph with 5-minute countdown for Google Calendar.
• Glyph Timer now supports time presets to quickly set the duration.
• Direct access to Glyph Timer from the lock screen without unlocking the device.
• Ability to open the glyph timer popup by tapping instead of holding.
• New glyph animation when using NFC.
• Improved Conversion to Glyphs logic.

Make a gesture:

• Customizable double-click power button for quick access to selected functions.
• Additional shortcuts on the lock screen, including Do Not Disturb, Mute, QR code scanner, and video camera.
• Three-finger gesture to quickly take a screenshot.
• New screenshot editor and menu for advanced editing and quick deletion features.

More improvements:

• Optimized Weather app with improved weather alerts.
• Expected back animation and updated back movement arrow to match the Nothing style.
• Individual ringtone and notification volume settings with updated control interface.
• Updated quick settings layout with support for additional device icons.
• Improved camera stability.
• Improved overall system stability for reliable and trouble-free operation.

Don’t worry if you haven’t been selected for the beta program this time, Closed Beta 2 is expected to be in late December or early January, so keep an eye out for that.
