The iPhone 15 Pro Max smartphone became the first smartphone in the Apple series to receive a tetraprism-based “telescope” with five times optical zoom. In the future, Apple may switch to tetraprism with 10x zoom.
Apple will reportedly replace LG Innotek, which currently provides the tetraprism module, with ICT (a subsidiary of Luxshare) due to some undisclosed disagreements. In this, the next generation of the tetraprism module will provide 10 times optical approximation.
It’s unclear exactly when that will happen, but it’s not next year. According to all data, the module will remain the same in the next iPhone generation, but it will appear in the smaller Pro as well as the Pro Max model. Perhaps the new camera will be the highlight of the iPhone 17 series and will most likely initially appear only on the most expensive model.
The Kr.Investing source does not say anything about this, but we can assume that if Apple equips its tetraprism “phone” with 10x zoom, it will implement another “phone” with smaller zoom. For example, with threesomes. We will remind you that such a system is implemented in the Galaxy S23 Ultra, but the “television” is based on the periscope module, not the tetraprism.
