Before channel 24 He has already spoken about the capabilities of the Norwegian mobile anti-aircraft missile system NASAMS, which Ukraine wants in common. Today we will dwell in more detail on the capabilities of the Naval Strike Missile (NSM) anti-ship missile.
What can a Naval Assault Missile do?

anti-ship missile NSM created by the company Kongsbergis one of the world’s leading defense companies. This cruise missile, which has been selected to be armed in the United States, Germany, Canada, Poland and Romania, is also planned to be placed on British missile carriers to be built for Ukraine.
The missile began to be built in the early 2000s and outlined a number of features that later became key and made these weapons successful.
It is important to note that the guns were created with certain restrictions on size and weight, as they are primarily intended for use in the Norwegian Navy, which uses Fridtjof Nansen frigates and Skjold-class missile boats.

Therefore, the length of the rocket 3.95 meters. The missile itself has a horizontal launch and does not use radar, but instead is equipped with a thermal imaging homing head. This ensures that the missile is extremely inconspicuous and delivers accurate hits.
In addition, some measures were taken to make the missile even less visible. In addition to traditional low-altitude flight over the hills, composite and radio-absorbing materials are widely used in the “hidden contour” fuselage. In addition, at the end of the flight, the missile begins to actively maneuver.

The Defense Express portal gave detailed information about the path of the missile to hit the target from the moment of launch. Before launching the missile, it is embedded in the infrared signature of the target. After splitting the solid fuel accelerator, the small turbojet engine TRI 40 of the French company Microturbo (included in Safran) is started.
It weighs just 44 kilograms, but provides a thrust of 3.3 kN, which allows the 410 kilogram Sea Attack Missile to accelerate to Mach 0.9 and fly up to 185 kilometers.
A special inertial missile system uses satellite navigation. There is also a terrain tracking system – TERCOM, which can track real photos of the surface, compare them with the reference image and even adjust the flight if necessary.

This set of technologies allows the Naval Strike Missile to fly above the ground, which allows you to destroy ground targets using the precision-guided thermal imaging head. Among other things, the missile is able to follow the set route, bypassing air defense areas.
In the final phase of the flight, the homing head “captures” the target’s infrared footprint and compares it with the data recorded before launch. This is followed by the moment of attack near the ship’s waterline. The 125 kg high-explosive fragmentation warhead is responsible for destroying the target.
