Where to find the new key

The Copilot key, which will replace the menu key usually located next to the right Alt key, will allow users to interact with Windows 11’s built-in artificial intelligence assistant with a single touch.

Specifically, if Copilot is not yet available in the user’s region, pressing Copilot will activate Windows Search. However, it remains unclear whether the Copilot key can be used with other keys, similar to the functionality of the Windows key.

Microsoft declined to specify that original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) will be the first to ship keyboards with the Copilot switch. This will be known for sure at the CES 2024 exhibition in Las Vegas.

While we expect it to launch soon, Mehdi assured consumers that the Copilot key will soon launch on “new Windows 11 PCs from ecosystem partners,” including Surface devices.
