Samsung engineers demonstrated the capabilities of the sensor for the smartphone camera with a record resolution. This was reported with the release of Android Authority.
The Korean company introduced an ISOCELL sensor that can be used in next-generation smartphones. According to the engineers, an important feature of the new development is the fact that users can enlarge and crop images without sacrificing quality.
“The 200 megapixel image sensor will soon be the best solution for 8K video recording,” Samsung said. As an example, the engineers used a sensor to take a picture of the cat, which was then printed at the highest resolution possible. The resulting photograph was transferred to a 616 square meter canvas, about one and a half times the size of a basketball court.
As a result, the authors noted that the new Samsung HP1 200MP sensor will use ChameleonCell pixel acquisition technology, which allows the sensor to group 4 or 16 pixels into one larger pixel. The timing of the new development in smartphones has not been disclosed.
