Windows doesn’t have a built-in way to monitor CPU temperature. You can control this from BIOS/UEFI, but this is not very useful because you need to reboot the system. There are many additional software that allow you to monitor the temperature of the processor. It is likely that the manufacturer of your processor model will offer you its own application, but we advise you to use a universal program for monitoring temperature – Core Temperaturebecause it is simple, easy and free.

Once installed, you can open Core Temp to see your CPU temperature. At the bottom of the panel you will see the current temperature of each core. Additionally, the program shows the recorded minimum and maximum temperature of each core, so you can see how it performs over time.

Also follow install percentage. It shows how much work each processor core does. If the temperature rises when your CPU is under almost no load, this may indicate a problem.

Area Tj Max (means temperature crossover) shows the maximum operating temperature of your processor. If the mark reaches this temperature, your processor will slow down or even shut down to prevent damage. Operating the processor at this level for a long time will cause damage.

How to add CPU temperature reading to system tray with Core Temp?

Core Temp is a simple program but has additional options for more advanced use. One of Core Temp’s most useful tools is the ability to add temperature monitors to the system tray.

With an icon in your system tray, you don’t need to constantly open the Core Temp window to see how hot your computer is getting. This is especially useful if you want to check the temperature while you’re working, as switching between windows in this mode can be distracting.

Here’s how to add temperature icons to the system tray:

• click Parameters > Settings;
• Go to tab Notification Area.

From here you can add Core Temp to the system tray for easier monitoring. The program will display the temperature of all cores or only the hottest ones, depending on your choice.

What should be a good CPU temperature?
