Victor Pokhmelkin is the co-chairman of the Liberal Russia party and the head of the Russian Drivers Movement. On the broadcast of the “Moscow Speaks” radio station, he spoke sharply about the simplified version of the Lada Granta, which would deprive it of a number of important and familiar competitors. According to Pokhmelkin, the new Lada Granta is a real “killer car”.

The thing is, it won’t have:

• ABS (anti-lock braking system).
• ESP (vehicle stability control systems).
• ERA-GLONASS block.
• Normal multimedia system.
• But most importantly Airbags are not included.
• In addition, cars will receive an old steering wheel from the already decommissioned Kalina model.

Excuse me, is this a modern car? What is a car without an airbag? This is a killer car. If we are considered a civilized country, I believe that such cars should simply be banned. Cars without airbags and ABS cannot be produced. This is my principled view. Because in such cars people die six times more often than those with airbags. These are tested and proven statistics. And it’s legal in many countries,

To so-called liberals, the absence of airbags in the car is a throwback and a throwback to decades ago. In addition, the new Lada Granta will have old VAZ-11182 engines of low environmental class.
