Samsung confirms Galaxy Ring exists
At the end of yesterday’s Samsung Unpacked event, the company started talking about its health-focused Samsung Health software. Samsung gave us a small hint about the upcoming health-focused product after showing off the Galaxy Watch 6’s sleep tracking features, software tools like medication management, and an upcoming update to its health software. This is the Galaxy Ring. It looks like a ring with a series of sensors inside that are clearly visible.
Unfortunately, all we saw was an image with no clear visibility. The company did not reveal any details and limited itself to a short teaser.
It is generally positioned as follows: a finger-mounted fitness tracker. Data will likely be collected on the device and then transferred to a connected smartphone for further viewing and analysis.
We do not have any details on how this device will work, but we can assume that its arsenal of functions will include monitoring various indicators of the body. For example, rival companies that already have similar devices offer to track your sleep, measure your heart rate during exercise, and track your daily activity to make sure you’re hitting certain goals. Samsung also announced some new metrics in Health, such as the “vitality” indicator; these metrics may also be included in Ring’s feature set.
The teaser talks about this Galaxy Ring will use artificial intelligence to some degreebut there are no details about this either.
The company also didn’t say when it would release more information about this device, when it would be released, or how much it would cost.
