iPhone 16 will have a new mechanical button to control the camera

A number of authoritative sources have said that Apple plans to place a mechanical button to control the camera on the body of its future iPhone 16 series smartphones. It is assumed that it will be located at the bottom of the right side of the smartphone body, and when shooting in portrait orientation it will be convenient to interact with it using the index finger, like the shutter button on cameras.

Rumors that Apple was planning to add a camera control button to the iPhone have been circulating since last fall. But at that time it was about a touch switch. It is reported that the button will now be mechanical, but will have the ability to recognize touches and presses. Thus, the user will be able to change the zoom by sliding his finger left or right on the button, a light press will allow the camera to focus on the object, and a full press will start shooting. This innovation is expected to appear on all iPhone 16 models.

We should also point out that Apple will not be the first company to add a separate camera control button to its smartphones. Sony, for example, has been using something similar in its Xperia series devices for years. Arguably, a button to control the camera would be an important addition to some of the most popular smartphones sold today.

Let’s add that even if Apple is indeed testing a new mechanical button, the company’s plans may change before the official launch of the new iPhone 16, which will probably take place in September.
