Google introduced the Pixel 8 series in October 2023; The vanilla model had Obsidian, Hazel and Rose color options, and the Pro model had Obsidian, Porcelain and Bay color options. Now Google has announced that the series will soon get a new color variant.

The announcement was made via the company’s official Twitter account, which includes a double series about the arrival of “New Year, Fresh Drop”. An accompanying link directs users to the Google Store and offers a teaser video that shows “itsaliving” in mint green and offers a look at the upcoming colorway.

On January 25, 2024, the same day the color was announced, Google is hosting a mural event in downtown New York featuring artist @itsaliving.

Launched in October 2023, the Pixel 8 series currently consists of two smartphones, with a third model (Pixel 8a) expected to launch in late 2024. The specific model that will receive the Minty Fresh color will remain a secret until next week.

For those unfamiliar with the Pixel 8 series, the Pro model features a 6.7-inch LTPO OLED display, Google Tensor G3 chip, 12GB RAM and 128GB storage. The camera setup includes a 50-megapixel primary rear camera, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 48-megapixel telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. The device is powered by a 5,050mAh battery with 30W fast charging and various security features such as an in-display fingerprint scanner and face unlock.

However, the standard Pixel 8 is equipped with a 6.2-inch OLED screen, 8 GB RAM and 128 or 256 GB storage options. The camera setup includes a 50MP primary rear camera and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. The device has a 4575mAh battery and has the same security features as its Pro counterpart. Both models are IP68 dust and water resistant and available in a variety of colours.
