Sonos has unveiled a new 8-inch in-ceiling speaker designed by Sonos and Sonance, expanding its successful Sonos Architectural line of passive speakers. This 8-inch in-ceiling model offers AV solution integrators and residential and commercial users a new size that mounts discreetly to the ceiling and delivers powerful, balanced and clear sound. A package with a pair of 8-inch in-ceiling speakers will be available in spring 2024 for the equivalent of $999.

Optimized and powerful ceiling sound

Designed and tuned by Sonos and customized by Sonance, the 8-inch in-ceiling speaker features a larger woofer and tweeter that deliver smooth mids, deep bass down to 32Hz and generous headroom for even greater acoustics. The 30mm tweeter and optimized waveguide deliver more natural-sounding vocals and better high-frequency dispersion for wider, more even coverage that fills the entire room.

Although the 8″ in-ceiling speaker is larger than the 6″ model, the appearance of the magnetic grille does not change, so both models can be used in the same space without noticing the difference. The 8″ and 6″ grille is available in white, which goes unnoticed on most ceilings, and thanks to its custom steel construction, it can be painted to suit any customer’s needs.
