Google just introduced the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro in the new Mint color. Now the latest Pixel Feature Release brings new features to the high-end model. Pixel 8 Pro finally got the long-awaited feature of tracking human body temperature.
The search engine giant rolled out this biotracking support in its latest Pixel Feature. Google’s Pixel 8 Pro can read a person’s body temperature. Since this is a “medical-grade feature,” according to official notes, it may receive official FDA approval. In the latest update, Pixel 8 Pro users can access the Thermometer app to measure their forehead temperature.
This app even lets you save these results to your Fitbit profile for better health tracking. The brand claims that this feature can offer accurate measurements of body temperature, but this claim has not yet been verified with a medical thermometer. The sensor can measure a person’s body temperature using infrared radiation emitted by an object and can measure temperatures from 200 degrees Celsius to -20 degrees Celsius.
Note that it is still unclear whether this feature is completely true in humans. In other words, you shouldn’t replace your smartphone with real thermometers for any medical use. That’s all the information we have right now, so stay tuned for more updates on this topic.
