The PlayStation website states that the DualSense controller is compatible with devices running Android 12 or later and iOS 14.5 or later.

However, not all Android devices are compatible with the DualSense Controller. The PlayStation website recommends checking with your smartphone’s manufacturer to see if it’s compatible with the controller.

Connecting PS5 controller to Android smartphone

As we mentioned before, you can connect the DualSense to an Android device running Android 12 or above.

  1. To start connecting your PS5 controller to your Android device, go to Settings and tap Connections.
  2. Make sure the Bluetooth switch is on and click the Bluetooth tab to open the menu.
  3. Pay attention to the controller and make sure it is turned off. If not, press and hold the PS button for approximately seven seconds or until the controller light turns off.
  4. Put the controller into pairing mode by pressing and holding the Create and PS buttons simultaneously. The light on the remote will start flashing after about three seconds, indicating that the device is in pairing mode.

Now that the remote is searching for a Bluetooth device to connect to, check your phone. If your device is compatible, you’ll see the “DualSense Wireless Controller” option under “Available Devices” at the bottom of the screen.

  • Select the DualSense Wireless Controller and click “Pair” to complete the connection. Once connected you will see the DualSense Wireless Controller in the list of connected devices.
  • Once the pairing process is complete, the blinking light around the controller’s touchpad will also become steady.

Pairing the DualSense with an iOS device is a similar process but can only be completed if your phone is running iOS 14.5 or later.

  1. If your software is compatible, click Settings and select Bluetooth. Make sure the switch is on and put your PS5 controller into pairing mode.
  2. Scroll down to “Other devices” on your mobile phone and wait until you see the “DualSense Wireless Controller” option.
  3. Scroll down to “Other devices” on your mobile phone and wait until you see the “DualSense Wireless Controller” option.
  4. After that select it; your phone will connect to the controller.

Reconnecting DualSense controller to PS5

You won’t always be using the DualSense with a mobile device. There will come a time when you return to your console and then you will need to plug in the DualSense again. Luckily, this is very easy to do and only takes a few minutes.

  1. Start by turning on your PS5 console.
  2. Then connect the USB-A connector to the console and the USB-C connector to the slot on the top of the controller.
  3. The controller will connect automatically.

If you have two controllers and one of them is already synced, you can also connect wirelessly using Bluetooth.

  • Using your primary controller, go to your PS5 settings and Accessories.
  • Open Bluetooth Accessories under the General tab and put the controller back into pairing mode by pressing and holding the Pairing and PS buttons. When the second controller appears, select it to reconnect to PS5.

Using touch controls to play games on a mobile device can be awkward and difficult, and your thumbs take up most of the screen. Using any Bluetooth controller will greatly enhance your mobile gaming experience. However, since DualSense is one of the best controllers on the market, it will greatly enhance the gaming experience on your phone.
