Samsung introduced the Galaxy S24 series. Galaxy S24 Ultra is the most premium model of the series. It is noteworthy that in addition to the titanium structure, it is equipped with a new Gorilla Armor screen. These are the two most striking points in the durability part of the smartphone. The device was recently subjected to scratch and drop tests. It has now undergone intense endurance testing courtesy of the popular JerryRigEverything, aka Zack Nelson.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra’s screen is covered with Corning’s latest Gorilla Armor. It is advertised as reducing glare by up to 75 percent, and this is evident in the YouTuber’s test comparing the device to the older Note 10 Plus. Another advantage of Gorilla Armor is that it is four times more scratch resistant than previous versions. As usual, the S24 Ultra scratches at level 6 on the Mohs hardness scale. Surprisingly, deeper grooves appear at level 8, an industry first.
Samsung did not disclose what quality of titanium it used in the side frame of the S24 Ultra. In the scratch test, the side frame is easily scratched, just like the iPhone 15 Pro Max. The back panel of the Samsung flagship is also covered with glass and is scratch-resistant in the durability test. The S-Pen is also easily removed and closed, even with light pressure.
In the burn test, the display’s pixels resist flame for 30 seconds before turning white and fully recovering. Ultrasonic fingerprint scanner works even after repeated scratches.
Finally, the YouTube user goes for the bending test and tries to bend the smartphone with a lot of pressure from both sides. Although the S24 Ultra stretches a little in this process, it manages to maintain its position. Samsung will be pleased with this result, as the back glass of Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro model broke instantly in less than 5 seconds when pressure was applied.
