Although the Huntress II looks like a regular quadcopter, its jet turbine allows it to hover and descend without damaging landing pads. WaveAerospace received additional funding to expand production but did not disclose the source of this funding.

Pre-orders for Huntress II are being accepted now, with deliveries planned for later this year. However, no video evidence confirming the flight capabilities of this hybrid model has yet been made public.

What is known about quadcopter

  • With cross supports extending up to 4 meters from rotor to rotor, the drone can weigh up to 50 kg, depending on the turbine fuel inside.
  • The maximum take-off weight is 165 kg, and the device is equipped with cargo compartments and collapsible containers.
  • Designed for rapid deployment, Huntress II can be launched in less than 90 seconds.
  • It can also be dropped from aircraft at an altitude of 6,000 meters or less.
  • Flight duration is 2 hours and remote control is possible up to 30 km.
  • The turbine’s ability to start and stop in flight allows the Huntress II to maneuver like a quadcopter, reaching speeds of up to 300 mph horizontally.
  • Current speed is limited by electronic capabilities, but further improvements are expected in the future.

The drone’s ability to adapt to harsh weather conditions is remarkable: it can fly in winds of up to 117 km per hour and temperatures between -34 °C and 54 °C. In addition, the operational costs of the Huntress II are estimated to be only 5% of the cost of a conventional helicopter, underlining its cost-effectiveness and compactness.

While Huntress II’s military focus is clear, WaveAerospace also highlights its importance for humanitarian missions in harsh environments, rescue operations, and logistics.
