What the critics say

The hardware has received the most positive feedback from reviewers, at least in terms of how powerful the headset is and how effective the eye and hand tracking sensors are. Most people who tested Vision Pro you can call it one of the most advanced and user-friendly AR headsets All-in-one products have been launched today, but the downside is the lack of applications or practical use cases.

The headset, whose price starts at $ 3,499, promises to replace many devices, including your computer. Reviewers agree on this one The headset can handle anything you ask of it. It’s powered by an M2 processor, and Tom’s Guide noted minimal lag when launching multiple apps like Slack, Apple Music, and streaming a MacBook screen simultaneously. These windows can be easily resized and placed anywhere according to your viewing angle.

The system’s 4K resolution mini OLED screens and its ability to see through with low latency were also highly appreciated. CNET’s Scott Stein called it “best wearable display”The one he just used is even better than the ones that use base stations or require additional devices indoors. The transparent display will alert users when they get too close to an object and will also “track” others who come into the user’s field of view. Reviewers noted that the Vision Pro has a solid dual screen for working in (currently quite limited) virtual environments or watching 3D movies.

Stein also writes: Hand and eye movement tracking works even in low light conditionsHowever, The Verge expressed the opposite opinion: “Do you want to use a computer that doesn’t work well in the darkroom?” – he wrote at the end of the article.

While many sites praise the click-to-control method, The Washington Post notes that the virtual keyboard isn’t as good as it could be in terms of both eye typing and keystrokes.

One of the questions that continues to come up from certain users after having the opportunity to try the Vision Pro is the weight and comfort of the headset. Its weight excluding the external battery is 635 grams. And this became the cause of complaints – the headset caused headaches and neck pain in some cases. Joanna Stern of The Wall Street Journal said she wore the device for 24 hours (with naps). She described it as “big and heavy” despite a strap that includes a top latch. In his case, the Vision Pro’s eye-tracking system began to malfunction occasionally, forcing him to tighten and readjust the headset on his face. However, he did not mention the pain of using the headset for so long.

But let’s get back to comfort issues. Other users had some complaints. The Verge noted that compared to other headsets like the $500 Meta Quest 3, Apple shifted more weight to the front of the headset, adding that “you feel it after a while.” The external battery has also been called a painful problem. It should be in your pocket, attached to a wire. Once your battery is dead, you cannot remove the cable soldered to the battery to quickly replace it with another battery. The cable isn’t much of a hindrance, as “nothing about the Vision Pro suggests you need to move it around much.”

Vision Pro comes with a headset, two straps (one with top earphone and one without), battery, charging cable, and 30W power supply with USB-C ports. YouTuber Marques Brownlee demonstrated how the light screen and pad are attached with magnets. With the regular tape, the Vision Pro sits mostly on the cheeks and forehead, but Brownlee said the tape with the top “diffuses” your hair well, though it can mess it up.

A common complaint concerns the “beta version” of 3D characters used during FaceTime chats or other video calling or conferencing applications. Various technical observers united in one call and were appalled by what they saw. Joanna Stern of The Wall Street Journal writes that family members and colleagues told her she looked “terrible” and that her personality was “like Botox from hell.”

The last question journalists ask themselves is: How useful this device will be to the general publicespecially with its $3,500 price tag.
