The automotive industry has long been ripe for robotic integration due to its high-volume production, handling of heavy parts, and stringent precision requirements. While industrial robots currently dominate assembly lines for certain tasks, humanoid robots also have something to offer, and Atlas proves it.

This is a great video because it unpacks and unboxes the Atlas car’s shock absorbers. Atlas has always been a research platform for the study and development of robotics, not a commercial product, and this new video makes you think about the possible capabilities of such robotic systems and the scope of their applications.

Introducing the Tesla Optimus robot, Elon Musk hinted at Tesla’s future role in electric car factories, and the Figure startup plans to test its solutions in BMW factories. With the addition of Boston Dynamics to Hyundai, the possibility of Atlas’ involvement in car production becomes increasingly important.

But there are still many areas that are much less organized, and this is where humanoid robots will be very useful, but teaching them to turn chaos into order will be much more difficult. Manufacturers of humanoid robots are looking for ways to turn them into assistants that can make people’s lives easier by taking on daily tasks. However, it seems that we are still far from such a future.
