Apple has been experimenting with different camera notch designs for the standard iPhone 16 models for the last few months, but now the company seems to have made its decision. Macrumors publication has created an image of the iPhone 16 based on the leaks received. At the same time, the smartphone looks similar to previously published renders that were leaked by a verified insider a day ago. It is not 100% known whether the iPhone 16 will be available in these colors.

The camera shoe has two separate rings for standard wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle cameras. It would be logical to assume that in this generation Apple may switch to a 48-megapixel module and an ultra-wide-angle module. They’ve been waiting for this for a long time. According to Macrumors, the vertical position of the camera remained unchanged throughout the prototyping process, and Apple did not change the position of the flash or camera lenses.

The new smartphone really looks like the iPhone X released in 2017. Although Apple also used a vertical camera for the iPhone 12, it included a larger square notch that also housed the flash and microphone.

Macrumors writes that Apple will implement spatial video recording in the base models of the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus due to the vertical position of the camera. Currently, the camera modules in the iPhone 15 models have a diagonal arrangement and cannot shoot spatial video. This feature is currently limited to iPhone 15 Pro models and Vision Pro headphones. Macrumors adds that the pre-production prototype looks like this, but the design may change before the final version.
