iPhone 16 may have a DSLR-like shutter button

Leaks and rumors about the iPhone 16 series have been circulating on the internet for a while. Apple’s next generation flagship smartphones are expected to be released in September this year. Past reports had suggested a dedicated capture button on the iPhone 16 models. Now, in the latest development, Weibo user Instant Digital, who has a checkered past, has revealed details about the capture button.

According to Instant Digital, the Capture button on the iPhone 16 will be able to detect multiple levels of pressure. This is similar to two-step buttons on digital cameras. Its main function will be to initiate image or video capture. However, a light press or half-press allows the user to lock and adjust the focus. This will make it much easier than pressing your finger on the screen to fix the focus on the subject so that the image does not come out blurry. A recent report revealed that the Capture button may also support zoom in and out functions.

Some Sony Xperia phones already have two-stage shutter buttons. Dedicated “Shoot” button allows you to quickly take photos. The Action button on iPhone 15 Pro models can only be programmed to launch the camera app. The Weibo user also adds that Apple’s addition of a Capture button to the iPhone 16 shows the importance the company is placing on photography with its next-generation offerings. This can be a useful addition for serious photographers and videographers.
