Smartphone manufacturers are struggling to sell devices due to declining demand combined with serious supply chain issues. However, according to a new report from Counterpoint Research, Samsung is one of the few brands to see growth in April 2022.
Samsung smartphone sales rose 9% year-on-year in April, while the overall smartphone market fell 8% year-on-year, reaching the lowest level since the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
The South Korean brand’s impressive performance was driven by the popularity of the mid-range Galaxy A series models and the high-end Galaxy S22 series in the premium smartphone market.
Thus, Samsung captured 24% of the global smartphone market in April 2022. Also, the market share level recorded last month is the highest level in 5 years for Samsung. It took a large share in April 2017, when the latest Galaxy smartphones accounted for 25% of global sales.
