Rumors about the iPhone SE 4 are on the table. More than two years have passed since Apple launched the latest 4.7-inch model iPhone SE (2022). This model was eclipsed by a new mini family and disappeared with a complete change of plans: the move to the larger and easier to sell Plus models.

Even though smaller phones don’t have strong sales momentum, the fourth-generation iPhone SE is becoming increasingly popular. A model designed to be an access iPhone, Cheaper than iPhone 15 and with a new dimension to try to be more competitive. The market will decide whether this will be enough.

The offering will be based on the chassis of the base iPhone, thus expanding from 4.7 inches to 6.1 inches. Adapting to a market that demands increasingly larger screens is an important and necessary step.

Being a basic iPhone, will be cut from various directions. According to rumors, this model will not have a dynamic island and will return to the classic notch. On a photographic level, it will have a single camera with a possible resolution of 12 megapixels (not ignoring the fact that the iPhone 15 comes with a 48 megapixel sensor).

A simple, affordable and accessible iPhone. Would such a move make sense? The answer is not at all obvious.

Apple iPhone SE 4 is a much more meaningful concept than the previous one

The problem with the iPhone SE, especially in recent years, was twofold. First of all, the release of a 4.7-inch model, aim purchase to a very, very specific consumer. It is no longer a consumer who wants a small mobile phone, but a consumer who wants a mobile phone -very small and with minimal technological advances.

iPhone SE 2022 was born not only small but also outdated. A mobile phone with an HD screen, a single camera and a very low battery. Having an Apple processor and operating system was the main asset. It was still an iPhone. But the latter didn’t seem to be the reason why Apple stopped updating this family. The problem was size.

To change the concept and impress small mobile phones, Apple tried this on mini phones. Phones that share hardware with Apple’s core series but are 5.4 inches in size. With a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, they were even smaller than the iPhone SE (131.5mm high vs 138.4mm). Once again, the strategy of betting on such a specific target did not work. iPhone mini failed in salesApple’s current move is the exact opposite: offering a 6.1-inch base iPhone and an even larger base iPhone.

Since it’s clear that reducing the size won’t work, the question for the iPhone SE 4 is clear: Will consumers be willing to sacrifice specs in exchange for a tighter price? We do not know.

An iPhone SE 4 with a design similar to the iPhone 14, perhaps with the processor and camera of this model, and priced around 600 euros. Considering that the price of the iPhone 15 is around 1,000 euros, it doesn’t sound bad as an entry-level iPhone.
