The new high-end smartphone, launched in China a few days ago, has officially arrived in Spain to compete for the top podium. It does this with a brand new processor, operating system and a very interesting offer.
It did not come alone, but was spotted alongside the Xiaomi 14, Xiaomi 14 Ultra, Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro 12.4, Xiaomi Watch 2 and Xiaomi Smart Band 8 Pro, and information on all of them is now available. Without further ado, let’s get to know the device we have at Engadget better: Xiaomi 14.

Premium aroma everywhere
Xiaomi 14 is a terminal covered with black, white or new jade green glass. The rear is slightly curved at the sides to increase grip and the design is plain and simple. The only thing that stands out is camera module As you can see, it has two ridges that stand out quite prominently from the case. To achieve a cleaner look, Xiaomi moved the top speaker to the display area and the infrared port to the camera module plate itself, thus leaving the top bezel free of ports.
If we turn it, we will see the screen. CrystalRed AMOLED display with “1.5K” resolution (2,670 x 1,200 pixels) is 6.36 inches, which means 460 pixels per inch. The panel uses LTPO technology, which allows it to offer a dynamic refresh rate of 1-120 Hz, which is becoming increasingly common in the high range. All this is supported by all HDR technologies, including Dolby Vision, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits; This shows ways to do this, although we will only use it in more specific situations.
To complete the multimedia section, the Xiaomi 14 also includes a fingerprint reader under the screen, stereo speakers and an array of four microphones distributed throughout the terminal. The screen, meanwhile, is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus and has three TÜV Rheinland certifications: Flicker Free, Low Blue Light and Circadian Friendly.
Latest from Qualcomm and newest from Xiaomi
Xiaomi did not skimp when choosing the engine of its new smartphone. And the Xiaomi 14 shares the same processor as its bigger brother, the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. Both use Qualcomm’s latest, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. In short, Xiaomi 14 has more than enough power no matter how we use it.
We need to add to this processor 12GB LPDDR5x RAM and 256 or 512 GB of internal UFS 4.0 storage. Either way, these are the fastest technologies currently shipping. Meanwhile, the memory doesn’t seem to be expandable via microSD cards, or at least Xiaomi hasn’t mentioned it. The battery capacity is 4,610 mAh, complemented by 90W fast charging and 50W wireless fast charging.
In any case, the most interesting thing is the operating system, and Xiaomi 14 (and the Ultra model) launches HyperOS and a number of interesting functions. The first is integration with Google Photos, which allows the user to create backup copies in Google Photos (which is no longer free and unlimited), edit images and share them from the Xiaomi gallery.
there is also artificial intelligence functionsLike AI captions (works on video calls), AI album search (to find photos by describing them with natural language), or Xiaomi HyperMind, which automatically takes action by learning from our patterns. For example, if we usually turn on the living room light when unlocking the smart lock, Xiaomi HyperMind will learn this pattern and do it automatically with the user’s prior permission.
Leica of course
We started talking about cameras. Xiaomi 14 aims to offer a balanced and versatile experience with angle, wide angle and telephoto options from Leica. The idea is to cover the focal range from 14 to 75 millimeters. As for selfies, we only have a 32-megapixel camera with dynamic framing (0.8x and 1x depending on whether we use landscape or portrait).
Xiaomi has applied Leica Summilux optical lenses with f/1.6 aperture in the case of the main sensor. Light Fusion 900 50 megapixels. This sensor also allows Dolby Vision recording in 8K and also 4K 60 FPS. The wide-angle (75 millimeters) has a sensor with a total of 50 megapixels, but 32 effective megapixels, and the telephoto, also with 50 megapixels, offers us an optical magnification of up to 3.2.
