• The class action lawsuit against Sony Interactive Entertainment Europe Limited (Sony’s European division) and the company’s Moscow office was registered by the Moscow Khoroshevsky District Court on May 25, 2022.
• A total of 28 plaintiffs are mentioned. They want to gain access to the PlayStation Store, return the opportunity to purchase games and compensate for moral damage – 10 million rubles each.
• Their position is that the terms of use of Sony programs and Russian law do not provide for refusing to provide services “in connection with the domestic and foreign policies of the state of residence and residence of users”. Therefore, offended Russians claim that the company’s unilateral refusal violates the rights of the owners of the game console and its services.

This isn’t the first time the Russians have filed a lawsuit against foreign services for the suspension of their work in the country. In April, a group of disgruntled invaders rushing to sue “enemy” Western companies instead of protesting the mass killings of Ukrainians filed two class action lawsuits against Netflix.

• The first of them – for 60 million rubles – the court refused to consider.
• Also the second one we wrote about is currently in an unknown state. Under this claim, 20 users of the streaming service are demanding unspecified non-pecuniary damages, as well as reinstating subscriptions and access to content. The organizers also invited everyone to join the cause.
