Honor recently launched the Magic 6 Pro smartphone globally. Shortly after the release, DxOMark also published the first analysis of the device. And the first results look pretty impressive.

The DxOMark score highlights the Magic 6 Pro’s impressive 6.8-inch AMOLED display; The Magic 6 Pro takes the top spot in the rankings, beating out the previous leader, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. With 157 points, the Magic 6 Pro beat the Galaxy S24 Ultra by two points and the Pixel 8 Pro by three points. For comparison, the Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max ranked tenth with 149 points.

DxOMark praised the Magic 6 Pro for its outstanding motion processing that offers users a great video or gaming experience. Smooth playback on the phone and minimal motion blur contributed to the top score while driving.

But DxOMark tests revealed some limitations of the display, such as noticeable color shifts at extreme viewing angles and distracting patterns in low-light conditions with monochrome content. Although Honor advertises peak brightness of 5,000 nits, hitting that brightness level requires certain HDR scenarios; is inferior to competition under regular sunlight.

The Magic6 Pro shines in other areas besides the display. DxOMark’s battery tests scored it the highest score of 157 points, showing the advantages of its large battery and efficient Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor.

The phone offers an impressive battery life of 35 hours for calls, 50 hours for music streaming, and 15 hours for gaming. However, intensive use of the camera significantly reduces the battery life to approximately 4 hours and 39 minutes. But this is not surprising.

Finally, the Magic6 Pro’s 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle selfie camera also impressed reviewers. It topples the iPhone 15 Pro Max with its ability to produce higher resolution images as well as take sharp group selfies with wide depth of field.

The selfie camera was praised for its white balance, color reproduction, noise control, and dynamic range, although it lost some detail in low light due to aggressive noise reduction and sometimes showed inconsistent video sharpness.
