Unitree Robotics, a Chinese company known for its four-legged robots, has released a video showing the capabilities of its first humanoid robot, H1.

What can H1 do?

The robot can move at 3.3 m/s on a flat surface; This surpasses the world record of 2.91 m/s set by Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt.

  • The video also shows H1 dancing, showing off his full-body coordination, going up and down stairs, and doing high jumps.
  • The robot has five degrees of freedom in each leg, thanks to the hip, knee and ankle joints, and four degrees of freedom in each arm, thanks to the shoulder and elbow joints.
  • The main robot is equipped with an Intel RealSense D435i depth camera and a Livox MID-360 lidar with 360° vision; its output data is analyzed in real time by two Intel Core i7-1265U processors.

Impressively, the H1’s leg movements are powered by Unitree’s own M107 electric motors. Most humanoid robots, such as Boston Dynamics’ Atlas, use stronger but bulkier and heavier hydraulic actuators for jumping.

The company says the H1 will enter production in about three years. The price will be around $90,000. The robot is designed for a variety of applications such as entertainment, education, research and industry.
