Recently, news has been spreading about Apple’s plans to create a complex device. While major OEMs are increasing their efforts in the sophisticated device segment, the Cupertino-based tech giant is taking a cautious approach. While industry insiders have repeatedly reported that Apple’s first foldable device will be released in 2026, renowned analyst Kuo recently claimed that a foldable MacBook could arrive in 2027. Now, tipster Revegnus has shared a new development, citing a senior Apple official regarding the company’s plans for foldable devices.

A foldable Apple device could appear in 2026

According to a senior Apple official, quoted by AlphaBiz, the company confirmed that the foldable iPhone will be released in 2026 after careful evaluation. It is said that the expected release will be much later. The official added that it will be thinner and lighter than its competitors. This, along with wrinkles on the screen, is a major concern for brands in the foldable device segment. Apple aims to overcome this problem.

The speaker also says that Apple may include advanced technologies in the foldable first-generation iPhone due to the delay in its launch. This will be important for the company to differentiate its offering from its competitors in the market.

A previous report claimed that Apple has been working on its first foldable device for at least five years. Samsung pioneered this segment in 2019 and has come a long way since then. The Cupertino-based technology giant usually spares time for new launches. The company has not yet entered the GenAI space, which is expected to be announced towards the end of this year.
