There were once rumors that Samsung Galaxy S flagship smartphones might get the top MediaTek SoCs. This did not happen, but now data has emerged that the Korean giant is indeed considering such an option.

Insider Revegnus claims that Samsung was once eyeing the Dimensity 9000 series but the deal fell through due to MediaTek’s inability to supply the required number of chips. The SoC production volume of the Dimensity 9000 series is about 10 million chips, while Samsung needs 30-35 million platforms for flagships alone. Moreover, most of these single-chip systems are pre-booked by Chinese companies.

All things considered, we are talking about the Dimensity 9300, which means the deal could be related to the Galaxy S24 series. Among other features, this platform is generally even more powerful than Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
