New iPhone 16 Pro CAD images offer a fresh look at the upcoming phone’s design, offering a familiar look with a few key changes. While some leaks have hinted at a more radical redesign, these images obtained by 91Mobiles point to a more iterative approach.

It looks like the front panel of the iPhone 16 Pro retains the dynamic island introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro. The final design may be similar to the previous version, although this drawing shows a two-island notch for clarity. There’s a camera bump on the back consistent with previous iPhone models, which could refute leaks about a more radical camera layout.

The most interesting additions are the new buttons. The renderings show a “Capture Button” located on the left side, which is said to possibly replace the mmWave antenna housing. This button can act as a dedicated camera button, allowing you to quickly take photos and videos, or offer additional features such as zoom controls. Another possibility is that it acts as an AI button, reflecting Apple’s increasing focus on AI.

While the Capture Button seems like a solid addition, there is some disagreement with the action button introduced on the iPhone 15 Pro, according to reports from 91mobiles and MacRumors. While some leaks suggest a slightly larger action button, others claim that Apple abandoned this idea in favor of keeping the same design.

Apart from the buttons, sources indicate that the screen size for both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max has increased slightly, from 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches to 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches, respectively. This meets expectations for thinner bezels for a more immersive viewing experience.

The camera system can also see some significant upgrades. The iPhone 16 Pro may borrow the 5X telephoto lens from its bigger sibling, the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which offers improved zoom capabilities. In addition, sources point to a 48 MP ultra-wide sensor exclusive to Pro models.

Although there is no radical change in terms of design, the iPhone 16 Pro seems to offer some interesting improvements. New buttons, including the Capture Button, could provide much-welcomed improvements for photographers and videographers. With a larger screen and a potentially powerful, updated camera, the iPhone 16 Pro looks set to be a repetitive but worthy successor.

It’s important to note that these are leaks and Apple’s final design may vary. But they do offer a fascinating look at what to expect from the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro. Earlier this month, 91Mobiles also published CAD renders of the iPhone SE 4, showing a similar design to the iPhone 14.
