Following the leak of live images and images showing the UWB Antenna, Google recently filed an application with the FCC or Federal Communications Commission for approval of four device models with model numbers G8HHN, GKV4X, G6GPR and G576D. On the other hand, actual images of the Google Pixel 8a retail packaging have already appeared on the internet. The box says “Model: G6GPR”, which is one of the model numbers currently approved by the FCC.

If you consider the other three model numbers, Google generally develops different phone models according to the hardware requirements in different regions, such as the 5G mmWave antenna. It is noteworthy that the approval documents refer to different model numbers as different versions of the same phone.

The last two generations of current Pixel devices were released in May. So you can expect the Pixel 8a to arrive in the next few months.

Pixel 8a will have a similar form factor to Pixel 7a

Keeping this in mind, we also have the device’s dimensions of 152.0 x 73.0 x 9.0 mm. Compared to last year’s Google Pixel 7a, it’s only 0.1mm wider and the rest remains the same.

In the leaked box image, we see a familiar design for the camera module, which appears to be slightly thicker and with slightly more rounded corners compared to the Pixel 7a. The phone is expected to be powered by a declocked version of the Tensor G3 chip, which previously appeared on Geekbench with scores of 1218 and 3175 for single and multi-cores respectively. The phone will have the same 6.1″ 90Hz display and will be available in four color options.
