According to a new report from Korea, Apple plans to maximize the screen size of the upcoming iPhone 16 series with its new ultra-thin bezel technology. As reported Sisa MagazineApple will use Border Reduction Structure (BRS) technology to reduce the bezel at the bottom of the screen. BRS achieves this by incorporating internal copper cables into a more compact package.
It is reported that Apple plans to use frameless screen technology in all four iPhone 16 models, which are expected to be released in the second half of this year. It is said that the company has already tried to apply this technology to the iPhone, but previous attempts were limited by heating problems. Apple’s acceleration of its BRS efforts is reportedly due to recent advances in heat dissipation technology.
Last year, Apple shrunk the bezels on iPhone 15 Pro models by using low-pressure molding, or LIPO, to reduce the size of the display bezel to 1.5 millimeters (compared to about 2.2 millimeters on iPhone 14 models).
Additionally, Apple has not made any significant changes to the size of the iPhone screen since the appearance of the iPhone 12 models in 2020. However, this will change with the launch of the iPhone 16 in 2024. iPhone 16 Pro models will have much larger screen sizes than the current iPhone 15 Pro models.
According to various sources, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro max will have a larger screen size of approximately 6.3 inches and 6.9 inches respectively compared to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro max. To be more precise, the iPhone 16 Pro will have a 6.27-inch (159.31 mm) display, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max will have a 6.85-inch (174.06 mm) display.
As the screen size increases, the dimensions of the iPhone body will also increase. The iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max will be slightly longer and also slightly wider than their predecessors. The larger form factor of the devices will give Apple more internal space for components. For example, “iPhone 16 Pro” models may have larger and longer-lasting batteries.
We do not expect any size changes for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, and these devices will be the same size as the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus. However, with the “iPhone” 17 and “iPhone” 17 Plus in 2025, Apple is expected to launch larger screen sizes of 6.27 and 6.86 inches for both standard iPhone models.
