Xiaomi held a launch event in China today. The company introduced its latest smartphone, Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro, and also announced upcoming software updates for the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 13 Ultra series.

These Xiaomi phones will soon get mainstream AI-powered portrait mode

According to the company, Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro phones will have the “Main Portrait” feature starting from April, while Xiaomi 13 Ultra will have this feature by June. Introduced for the first time on Xiaomi 14 Ultra, this feature uses a large AI portrait model called Xiaomi Portrait LM and offers features such as AI wrinkle removal, smoothing skin tone, teeth and eye improvement. It also supports high-resolution recording at 4K 60fps continuous zoom, 8K 30fps full-range video recording, and 4K 120fps high-frame slow-motion playback.

Another software update coming in June is Xiaomi AISP (Xiaomi AI Image Semantic Processor). Touted as the first AI large model computational photography platform, AISP uses Xiaomi’s HyperOS to integrate the computing power of CPU, GPU, NP and ISP, reaching up to 60TOPS.

This enables features such as ULTRA RAW super negative, which provides high color depth and dynamic range and is compatible with professional editing software. AISP also has an ULTRA SNAP feature that can capture 150 photos using advanced algorithms.

Xiaomi Civi 4 Pro is equipped with a Leica triple camera system and custom-made Light Fusion 800 sensor, and also benefits from Xiaomi AISP (Imaging Brain 3.0). This integration increases overall processing power by 69% and enables faster burst shooting.

AISP in Civi 4 Pro also features a new AI GAN beauty algorithm that promises natural beauty effects tailored to individual facial features. The phone also has flagship video features, including 4K 60fps recording with features like HDR, autofocus, and beauty mode.
