Huawei’s plans to launch the P70 series remain a mystery after its press conference was reportedly cancelled. Industry insiders speculate that the phones may skip the traditional launch event altogether and instead participate in the “Trailblazer Program,” potentially going on sale as early as today.

The news was reported by tipster Bad Review Emperor on Weibo, who wrote, “The press conference was suddenly canceled and the tickets were returned to the media? What happened?” on social networks.

There are also reports that authorized Huawei stores have started accepting blind orders for the P70 series. While official release dates remain unclear, this indicates that the phones may be available very soon.

Sources of information about the P70 series paint a picture of powerful hardware and innovative features. Recent Geekbench listings indicate that the Kirin 9000S chipset is expected to power devices with potentially different clock speeds for entry-level and high-end models. Both models feature stunning displays around 6.58 or 6.8 inches 2.5D 1.5K LTPO panel with exciting quad-curved design.

As for the camera, rumors point to either the OV50H or IMX989 sensor, both of which have physical variable aperture. A 50 MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 50 MP periscopic telephoto lens with 4x zoom can complete the impressive camera system. The devices are also expected to feature new satellite communication technology and a new exterior design.

This wouldn’t be the first time Huawei has chosen an unconventional launch strategy. Last year’s Mate 60 Pro witnessed a silent online release with no press conference. The possibility of a similar surprise launch for the P70 series seems to be in the air. The leak also suggests that Huawei may launch 10 more products besides the P70 series.
