Foldable phone technology continues its rapid development, with Samsung at the forefront. The Korean manufacturer’s Galaxy Z Flip and Fold series continues to be extremely popular. However, due to Samsung’s progress with innovations, the original Galaxy Z Flip will no longer receive software updates.
Software support for Galaxy Z Flip is ending as Samsung prioritizes newer models
Samsung has ended software support for the original LTE Galaxy Z Flip model. This means the company’s first foldable phone will no longer receive new versions of Android or the usual security patches. However, Samsung may release the latest security update before support is completely discontinued.
Galaxy Z Flip 5G, released six months later, will continue to receive security updates at longer intervals. It’s worth noting that Samsung hasn’t provided the same level of long-term support for the Galaxy Z Flip as its other flagship phones released in 2020. The Galaxy S20 series, for example, will receive a refresh in its fifth year, likely due to a decline in sales of Samsung’s first foldable models.
