It’s possible that one of your AirPods has stopped working because its battery is dead. Each AirPod has its own battery, and when the battery runs out, that earbud will stop working. You need to check the battery level of each AirPod to see if this is the problem.
Place both AirPods back into the charging case and let them charge for at least 30-60 seconds or up to a few minutes. Then open the case and hold it near the iPhone to see the battery charge window. Or use the Settings app to view your AirPods’ battery level with the case open.
Once you’ve checked your AirPods’ battery level and made sure it’s charged, it’s time to restart the device you’re using your AirPods with.
Maybe there was an issue with a connected device like a computer or smartphone that caused one of the headphones to disconnect. In this case, a reboot may be enough to fix the problem.
Restart your iPhone, Windows computer, Android device, or Mac, no matter what you’re using with AirPods. Once the device is turned on and Bluetooth is turned on, check if both AirPods are reconnected and working properly.
Most gadgets allow you to adjust the volume for each AirPod individually. If you or someone else changed this setting and directed audio to only one of the AirPods, this may be why you can’t hear audio from the other. This could also be why one AirPod sounds louder than the other when both are on.
To adjust the volume balance of AirPods on iPhone:
This ensures that both AirPods play audio at the same volume.
To adjust the volume balance of AirPods on Android:
Make sure the indicator is in the middle of the slider so that the left and right AirPods have the same volume.
You can also adjust the volume balance of AirPods on Mac:
Then make sure your AirPods are selected and adjust the Balance slider to the middle.
You can adjust the sound balance of AirPods in Windows 11:
Problems don’t always occur only with AirPods. Sometimes one of your headphones stops working due to problems with your smartphone or computer.
In this case, try using AirPods with other devices and check if you can hear sound from both headphones.
If both AirPods work fine on another device, you know the problem is on your primary device and you need to fix it.
One of the best ways to fix problems with Bluetooth devices is to “forget” them on your phone or other device and then pair them again. This allows your gadget to establish a new Bluetooth connection.
After disconnecting, you will need to reconnect the AirPods to your device. After that check if both AirPods are working.
If your AirPods still don’t work after disconnecting and re-pairing them, try factory resetting your AirPods. After disconnecting, place the AirPods in the charging case but do not close the lid.
Press and hold the setup button on the back of the AirPods charging case for 15 seconds until the light on the front starts flashing yellow and white. Then release the button and open the lid to bring the AirPods case to the iPhone.
iPhone will ask you to set them. If you’re using another device, follow the standard Bluetooth setup steps.
Your phone’s network settings determine how it connects to various other devices. It’s worth returning to default settings to see if this fixes the AirPod not working issue.
Once the settings are reset, you can manually reconfigure them on your devices. You will also need to manually reconnect to Wi-Fi networks after resetting your network settings.
If you can only hear sound from one of your AirPods, use the methods above and see if you can get the faulty AirPod back to normal operation. If the problem is caused by misconfigured settings or a software bug, in most cases you will be able to fix the problem.
If your left or right AirPods still don’t work even after following the steps above, the problem may be with the headphone hardware. Your best option is to contact Apple Support for further assistance or a service center for repair.
