If you own a Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+ or S20 Ultra, this news might make your day a little better. Samsung claims that although these phones are past the first period of Samsung software support, they will not be left behind in terms of security. Instead of the usual monthly updates, Samsung is moving these models to a new schedule of quarterly security patches. This means you’ll receive security updates every three months indefinitely.
The news is a little better for the Galaxy S20 FE. This model will continue to receive monthly security updates for a while. It’s not yet clear whether Samsung will extend support for the S20 FE with quarterly updates after the end of the four-year software support cycle.
Samsung Galaxy S20, launched in February 2020, features a large 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with 120Hz refresh rate and Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. It is available in a variety of colors and is water resistant. Powered by the Exynos 990 or Snapdragon 865 processor depending on the region, the phone has a triple-lens rear camera system with a 64MP main sensor and a 10MP front camera. It also offers a 4000mAh battery with various fast charging options and wireless charging features.
