Xiaomi declared it obsolete and stopped supporting a number of phones. This was reported by Fonearena.
The Chinese company has expanded its EOS (End of Support) list by adding several popular devices. Legacy devices include Redmi K20, Redmi Note 7 Pro, Redmi Note 7S, Redmi 7, Redmi Y3, Mi Pad 4 Plus, Mi Play, Mi 9 SE phones and tablets.
Devices included in the EOS list do not receive any updates or patches. Usually, the company protects each phone for two years after its release. According to experts, Xiaomi may not even respond to reports of security issues with these smartphones.
Devices on the legacy devices list were released three or four years ago. For example, Xiaomi Redmi K20 was released in summer 2019, Xiaomi Mi Play became available for purchase in December 2018. The material says that the Chinese company offers only one global update for these devices – Android 10.
