Motorola started offering the Android 14 update to users Motorola Edge 40 in India. The update, which was not officially announced by Motorola, was noticed by user X (former Twitter user).

This new software package is 1.49 GB in size, labeled with firmware version U1TL34.115-13, and is currently being rolled out to users in phases. Previously, Motorola promised two major updates for the device, suggesting that the phone would receive the Android 15 update in the future.

The Android 14 update improves users’ control over personal data by providing better control over permissions for photo, video and geographic data sharing. Specifically, it introduces:

• Selective media sharing, which allows users to share specific images or videos instead of entire media files.
• More information about apps that share location data with third parties and notifications about changes to their data sharing policies.
• Notify users if an unknown Bluetooth tracker is detected moving with them.
• Health Connect integration offers a central place to store health data and controls what data is shared with fitness apps.
• Blinking notifications for incoming notifications with customizable settings for camera backlight, display backlight, or both based on Do Not Disturb modes.

Moto G84 5G recently received the Android 14 update in India, but the rollout has been slightly delayed. This suggests that Motorola may soon start updating other eligible models to Android 14.
