For organizations that need an offline version of Office, Office LTSC 2021 is still available, but support is scheduled to end on October 13, 2026.
The new version of Office 2024 LTSC, scheduled for release later this year, will be available as a commercial preview as early as April 2024.
However, the new versions will offer only some of the new features available in cloud-based Microsoft 365 E3. To contain:
- Meeting management functions,
- Advanced search capabilities in Outlook,
- Dynamic charts and arrays in Excel.
Notably, Office LTSC 2024 will not support cloud-based features such as real-time collaboration and AI-based automation.
Microsoft plans to introduce the new version of the platform in the second half of next year for organizations using Exchange Server 2016 and Exchange Server 2019. Until then, Microsoft recommends that customers who want to continue using on-premises Exchange Server upgrade to Exchange Server 2019, ensuring a smooth transition when the new version is released.
