This time, the fully electric version of Atlas comes on the scene. A new video that appeared on YouTube on Wednesday is only 40 seconds long, but it shows us a robot that looks a lot more like the ones we have at home.
Atlas was originally designed as a search and rescue robot, and Boston Dynamics says the new model is also aimed at real-world applications. The name of the company is Atlas “The world’s most dynamic humanoid robot”and it sure looks flexible.
In the video, Atlas can be seen lying on his back and rolling onto his feet to stand. The robot then turns its head 180 degrees and then turns its body. The turns of the legs and the rest of the body show impressive flexibility and balance.

– wrote Boston Dynamics on his blog.
The company wants its work to save us from “tedious, dirty and dangerous tasks in real-world conditions.”
Boston Dynamics isn’t the only company working on a humanoid robot. Of course, Tesla also has a robot it’s working on, and just yesterday we learned of another mobile robot called Menteebot that can be controlled with natural language voice commands.
