Nothing Phone (2) gets the long-awaited Nothing OS 2.5.5 update

After releasing the Nothing OS 2.5.5 update for the Nothing Phone (2a) earlier this week, the brand has finally started releasing the update for the phone (2) as well. Users of the device are eagerly awaiting this update in the hope that it will solve many of the problems that the phone has been experiencing lately (2).


The update is 206MB in size and includes ChatGPT integration and widgets. It will be available for Phone (1) and Phone (2a) in late April. This provides system-level access to ChatGPT, such as screenshot sharing and Nothing-themed widgets. The update also fixes several bugs and adds Ultra XDR for the camera, an HDR switch in photo and portrait modes, a RAM booster, and recording and battery widgets. ChatGPT integration
The following features are available in the latest version of ChatGPT installed from Play Store:
● Added a new gesture option to Nothing X to initiate a voice conversation with ChatGPT for Nothing Ear and Nothing Ear (a). We will be here with our other audio products very soon.
● Added new ChatGPT widgets to launch ChatGPT in different modes from the home screen for faster access.
● Added a button to the screenshot and dashboard popup to add content directly to a new chat in ChatGPT.

Additional functions
● The camera now supports Ultra XDR. To configure, go to Camera Settings > Ultra XDR.
● There is now an HDR toggle in Photo and Portrait modes in the Camera app. Turn it on or off using the settings above.
● RAM Booster function added. To configure, go to Settings > System > RAM Booster.
● Added “Ringer Mode” option to “Quick Settings” for easier volume control.
● Added a new Recorder widget for easy audio recording on the go.
● Added a new Battery widget to better monitor power usage.
● Added glyph interface debug mode to developer options.

Improvements and bug fixes
● Improved system stability, NFC functionality and Wi-Fi connection stability.
● Optimized animation for smoother opening of widgets and applications.
● Improved responsiveness when configuring Bluetooth in quick settings.
● Optimized volume adjustment to make interaction more intuitive.
● Improved the clarity of the album art display in the music player widget.
● Fixed issues when switching between data-enabled SIM cards during a call.
● Fixed the flickering that occurred when launching applications from quick settings on the lock screen.
● Fixed flickering issues in AOD interface.
● Fixed the issue where lock screen widgets would disappear after the screen is completed in certain scenarios.
● Fixed abnormal wallpaper appearing on the lock screen when the unlocking process is interrupted.
● Fixed an issue where the widget screen showed that Bluetooth was turned off when the watch was connected.
● Fixed frequent updates and flickering when configuring Wi-Fi in the Quick Settings widget.
● Other bug fixes and performance improvements.

Since the update will be rolled out gradually, some users may experience delays in receiving OTA notifications on their devices. If you haven’t received a notification or want to check for an update, go to Settings > System > System Update.
